Morris County Prevention is Key Awarded United Way of Northern New Jersey Grant

Morris County Prevention is Key (MCPIK) has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the United Way of Northern New Jersey for 2014 to oversee and implement Take Control of Your Health (TCOYH), an evidence-based program developed by Stanford University. The program is designed to help seniors develop healthy strategies for managing the physical and emotional elements of their conditions, and make participants aware of Morris County community resources that facilitate continued independent living.

Community Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Morris Sponsors Inaugural Alcohol Screening Training in Morris CountyScreening Tool Will Identify Youth Using and Abusing Alcohol at an Early Age

Rockaway, NJ, November 19, 2013:  The Community Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Morris (CCSHM), an initiative of Morris County Prevention is Key (MCPIK), sponsored the first Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) training in Morris County to 36 Student Assistance Counselors (SACs)at the Morris County Public Safety Academy on Thursday, November 14th. The training provided SACs with the tools necessary to verbally screen for alcohol use and abuse by Morris County youth, intervene and provide referrals to treatment and further counseling if necessary.
